A Short Brief About American Bulldog
American Bulldogs are taller and more agile than their English Bulldog cousins and over the years they have become a popular choice as both companion dogs and family pets in the States. Thanks to their good looks and kind natures, they have found their way into the hearts and homes of many people here in the UK and other countries of the world. As yet, American Bulldogs have not been recognized as a breed in their own right by The Kennel Club, but they are recognized by the United Kennel Club as well as the American Breed Club and as such a standard has been set for these loyal and courageous dogs by both clubs.
The American Bulldog is often mistaken for an American Staffordshire Terrier and an American Pit Bull, but the breed is very different from both in many ways and as such does not fall under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991. Although intelligent and therefore highly trainable, the American Bulldog is not the best choice for first-time dog owners because they need to be handled and trained by people who are familiar with the breed.
